It was accepted as the ISO/IEC DIS 14772-1 International Standard, and is maintained and further developed by the Web3D Consortium. <br><br> To wiew the interactive 3D scenes presented in the <b>Showroom</b> of the <a href="http://www.spg.cz/ivan" title="Back to Ivan's Web3D Page">Ivan's Web3D Page</a>, a PC with at least a Celeron 300, 32 MB of RAM and a decent graphic card is needed, running Windows 95+ and a web browser such as Microsoft Explorer 4.0+ or Netscape Communicator 4.04+, with an <a href="http://www.cortona3d.com/cortona" target="_blank" title="Cortona VRML Viewer (New Window)">appropriate VRML plug-in</a>. <br><br> The plug-in (around 900kB) is either installed automatically upon your approval when a page with embedded 3D scene is encountered, or you may choose to download it manually <b>now</b> from the <a href="http://www.cortona3d.com/cortona" target="_blank" title="Cortona VRML Viewer (New Window)">installation site</a>. <hr> <h3><br> <a name="mod">Interactive 3D Models</a></h3> <h4><br> Benes - Hajn Avia BH 3</h4> The scene shows the first monoplane introduced into Czechoslovak Air Force, and probably the first monoplane fighter in regular army service since 1914 even in European scale. <br> For its time very advanced design is accurately presented here both in normal and in cutaway views. The airplane is currently being introduced into Czech Air Force as a close air support/weapons trainer. <br> Special attention was paid to the accuracy of the model. I began to collaborate with the company <b>Online Environs, Inc.</b>, then a start-up established by group of MIT and Cambridge University graduates, on utilization of the emerging Web virtual reality technology called VRML. </p> <p> In addition to work on virtual reality-related projects for renowned customers such as BayBank of Boston, LG Electronics, Intel and Bose, our team participated in - and won - the Silicon Graphics Inc. year 1997 annual Web3D competition in the Engineering Application category.</p> <p> After my return back to Czech Republic I joined the <span class="bold">Strategy Team</span> under the Chief Technology Officer of the SKODA a.s. where I worked until it was dismissed in 1998.</p> <p> I moved then to SKODA Nuclear to the position in Sales & Engineering Department where I spent next three years.</p> <p> In the year 1999 I took part as an independent VRML developer in the competition Web3D RoundUp, organized during <b>SIGGRAPH '99</b>, where I made it to the <a href="http://www.siggraph.org/publications/newsletter/v34n2/contributions/klima.html" target="_blank" alt="Ivan Klima SIGGRAPH 99 interview" title="SIGGRAPH interview (New Window)">finals</a> and my work was presented live during the SIGGRAPH RoundUp ceremony. </p> <p> After a short period of time spent with the Czech branch of the US company <b>Ingersoll-Rand Co.</b> I got a chance to utilize both the education in nuclear field and the experience in development of Virtual Reality applications by accepting a position in highly acclaimed European nuclear research facility - the Norwegian <b>Institutt for Energiteknikk</b> - Man-Machine Interface Division in Halden, where I worked on numerous projects utilizing Virtual Reality in nuclear environment.</p> <p> I have decided now to use both engineering and 3D graphics-related experience gained by education as well as acquired during my numerous assignments worldwide as freelance VRML developer specialized in visualization of mechanical designs and concepts.</p> <p> In close collaboration with the company <a href="http://www.spg.cz" target="_blank" title="SPG Home Page (New Window)">SPG</a> in Kolin, Czech Republic, I have also participated on creation of successful series of multimedia CD titles targeted to school children, covering areas ranging from Space through Public Transportation to Geography and using interactive 3D VRML-based scenes for explaining important topics.</p> <p> The CDs are certified for use in official State educational system both in Czech Republic and Slovakia and have been supplied so far to numerous schools in those two countries.</p> <p> Further CD titles and other projects using interactive 3D VRML technology are coming.<BR><BR></p> </font> </td> </tr> </table> </center> </body>
